Dysport® in Atlanta, GA

We all know the common trouble areas when it comes to aging skin: the eyes, mouth, and forehead. The common areas, like crow’s feet and frown lines, are wrinkled due to a natural aging process in conjunction with our facial expressions. While these wrinkles are somewhat inevitable, it is possible to reverse the hands of time with Dysport®, which combats early signs of aging. The Atlanta Center for Breast and Aesthetic Surgery, led by Dr. Frederick T. Work, Jr., offers Dysport®, a non-surgical, FDA-approved treatment for men and women, to residents of Buckhead, Vinings, and Sandy Springs.

What Is Dysport®?

Often compared to Botox®, Dysport® is a relatively new treatment that can temporarily provide a dramatic improvement in the appearance of wrinkles. When used alone, Dysport® can significantly improve fine lines and wrinkles on the upper one-third of the face. However, when Dysport® is used in conjunction with a dermal filler, patients can achieve a refreshed and natural total face rejuvenation. During treatment, Dysport® is injected into the forehead muscles to target specific activity, which temporarily relaxes target muscles from contraction. This relaxation blurs and fills fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead.

Dysport® vs. Botox®

The terms Dysport® and Botox® are often used interchangeably, but there are quite a few notable differences between the two. To begin, the results of Dysport® are generally more immediate than those of Botox®. The results of Botox® are typically observed after about a week, while Dysport® produces results almost immediately following treatment.

Another important distinction is the pricing and dosage of the two popular injectables. What might take one unit dosage of Botox® during treatment would likely take two to three times that unit dosage of Dysport® to achieve the same effect. However, the results from Dysport® are longer-lasting, so the two treatments are ultimately comparable in value and price.

During the treatment itself, the procedures are roughly the same. However, it has been found that Dysport® has a tendency to spread more than Botox®. This means that it’s technically possible that the solution could radiate out and affect more than the target area. This is kept in mind while we administer the treatment and Dr. Work assigns injection locations accordingly.

Why Choose Dysport®?

There are countless reasons to choose Dysport® for facial rejuvenation. Many of our clients opt for the Dysport® treatment because of its uncanny ability to restore youth to the most tell-tale regions of the face. Because this treatment is safe and minimally invasive, many individuals choose Dysport® over less effective skincare products or more risky surgical procedures. In combination with a filler, this treatment is effective for various wrinkle types, including lip and neck wrinkles, crow’s feet, frown lines, forehead wrinkles and more. Results are generally noticed within a day after treatment and for most, there are little to no side effects.

The Dysport® Procedure

Like all procedures at our office, Dysport® treatment begins with an initial consultation with Dr. Work. At this consultation, Dr. Work will talk to you about your main problem areas, your medical history and your goals for the procedure. Based on your individual concerns, Dr. Work will recommend treatment and determine if Dysport® is the right option for you. From there, he will devise a plan for the treatment including the specific injection sites based on your unique face and desired results.

At a Dysport® treatment appointment, Dysport® is injected into the skin using a small, hypodermic needle. The procedure is very fast and is usually completed in 20 minutes, with no pain and very little discomfort. If there are multiple injection sites, Dr. Work may recommend a topical anesthetic or numbing agent to ensure comfort. There is no downtime associated with this procedure and only minimal side effects, such as a headache or slight swelling and redness around the site of injection. Results of Dysport® are noticeable almost immediately and will continue to develop for a week or so.

Are You A Candidate for Dysport®?

Because Dysport® is a non-surgical, safe procedure, most individuals are strong candidates. We recommend this procedure to individuals who have realistic expectations for results and are in generally good health but are unhappy with some signs of aging in the face. While most men and women will experience little to no side effects, please know that if you have an allergy to abobotulinumtoxin, it is not recommended that you receive treatment.

What Can I Expect After The Dysport® Procedure?

The treatment is quick and simple, so many people resume normal activity following the appointment. While results are somewhat visible immediately, it will likely take several days before results are fully noticed. A small amount of discomfort might be felt directly after the procedure but it should subside within a short amount of time and can be managed with a simple ice compression or pain medication.

How Soon Can I Return To Work After Dysport®?

Unless your work involves vigorous exercise, you can return to work immediately following Dysport® treatment. It is recommended that our clients wait to exercise until 24 hours following the treatment.

How Much Does Dysport® Cost in Atlanta?

Costs associated with Dysport® vary by patient, depending on the injection site and area affected. The cost of your specific treatment will be discussed with you during your initial consultation with Dr. Work. The Atlanta Center for Breast and Aesthetic Surgery accepts cash, checks and major credit cards for all procedures. Because this is a cosmetic procedure unlikely eligible for insurance coverage, we offer financing options for enhanced affordability.
