Hair Transplant in Atlanta, GA

For any man or woman, living with baldness and thinning hair is enough to make you feel extremely uncomfortable in just about any situation. The Hair Transplant Center of Atlanta, led by Dr. Frederick T. Work, Jr., offers hair transplants for men and women who live in and around Buckhead, Vinings, and Sandy Springs.

What Is A Hair Transplant?

Today’s hair transplant techniques give natural results by harvesting donor hair from the back or sides of your scalp and inserting the individual hairs into small incisions. Most people have balding and thinning on the top and front of the scalp. Dr. Work creates a hairline and growth pattern that gives you long-lasting and natural results.

Who Is A Candidate For Hair Transplantation?

In order to be considered for hair transplantation, you should have adequate donor hair that is healthy enough for transplantation. Dr. Work will determine if your donor hair is appropriate for the procedure during your consultation. The surgery does require anesthesia, so you should also be in good health.

Can Women Undergo Hair Transplantation Surgery?

Female baldness is becoming more of a mainstream topic and hair transplantation techniques have evolved to meet the specific needs of women. The surgery is an excellent option for both areas of baldness and thinning. If your female hair loss is caused by hormonal changes, Dr. Work recommends that you work with your primary physician to rebalance your hormone levels prior to the procedure. This will extend the results of your female hair transplantation.

Should Young Adults Undergo Hair Replacement Surgery?

Although men and women can start to lose their hair in their 20s and 30s, Dr. Work may recommend delaying treatment. In many cases, the donor hair is not established and the pattern of hair loss is not obvious. These factors can disrupt the hair growth in the donor area and not address areas that may lose hair in the future. Hair transplantation in younger patients is an individualized process, though, so we recommend that you meet with Dr. Work for a consultation.

Can A Poor Transplantation Job Be Corrected?

If you were one of the first men who had hair transplantation surgery when the technique was first developed, you might not be satisfied with the results. The traditional technique of using “plugs” of hair created an unnatural hair pattern that tells everyone that you had a hair transplant. Dr. Work is able to blend new hair transplants into the areas that were treated years ago to give you a more natural hair growth pattern.

How Long After Surgery Do Patients Have To Wait Before Returning To Their Daily Routines?

You should plan to rest for one or two days after the surgery at which time you can return to work and light activities. Exercise should be avoided for at least 10 days.

What Do The Transplants Look Like Before They Start To Grow?

For the first two weeks, you will have scabs on the treatment area. You will also experience a three to four-month cycle of the transplanted hairs falling out and being replaced by new hairs. Full results can take six to nine months. The incision site will have a mild scar that is hidden in the hairline. If you have had previous surgeries in the donor area, the scar may be more pronounced.

How Long Does It Take For Hair Transplantation Patients To Have Their Final Results?

After about three months, new hair begins to grow in the treatment area and you hair gradually becomes fuller. After six to nine months, you will see the full results of your hair transplantation surgery.

What Is the Cost of a Hair Transplant in Atlanta?

The cost of hair transplantation is based on the extent of the procedure and the number of grafts that are needed. Dr. Work determines these factors during the consultation. Once we have a detailed surgical plan, we provide a complete total cost. In order to make hair restoration more accessible to men and women, we offer several payment methods, including cash, major credit cards, and personal checks. You can also apply for financing prior to your consultation.
